Monthly Lab Report: August 2021

Posted by Toni fiberologylab@gmail.com on

We're creating something new - the Monthly Lab Report!

There's so much going on in August and we're super excited! We want to give you a high level overview of everything we have going on. Make sure you're subscribed to our email list and YouTube channel and following us on Facebook and Instagram to stay up-to-date on all the fun.

Yarn Clearance

We are removing yarn from our offerings, but we're not going to let you guys run away! We're going to continue having our Sit & Stitches on Thursday from 10:00 to 12:00, and then on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00, and then on the third Saturday of the month, we're doing the open-air Sit & Stitch.

We want you to stay connected with us! But all our yarn, all our notions, all our yarn balls, needles, hooks, everything is 50% off starting now and going through the end of August. The best selection will go fast, so come on in this week and get what you like. Think ahead to Christmas. Come grab a yarn ball for you and one for a friend who loves to knit!

Monthly Fiber Review

Always on the first Saturday of the month. We are going to be doing one for yarn and one for fabric. You must sign up before Saturday, which is August the 7th, and our fabric is done at 11:00, and our yarn is done at 1:00. You can participate virtually. We also do it by Zoom. We hold a Zoom class while we're doing it live in the shop at the same time.

You get to do show and tell, you get a prize. It's a ton of fun! You can reserve your spot on the website (type Monthly Fiber Review into the search bar). For upcoming months as well.

Jaybird Quilts Trunk Show

We're excited to have the trunk show of Quilts for Baby and Beyond in our store now. We're going to talk about that a lot over the next coming weeks, including the book and the tools that you need to create some of the great quilts that are in this book. If you are local, please come by and see them because they're stunning.

Lunchtime Lives

12@12 started August 1st with Vermont Quilter's Schoolhouse. And it goes on through until August 12th at noon central time zone 1:00 PM Eastern. Each day there will be a shop focused on 12 bundles. So they're going to show 12 bundles of either full-yards half-yards or fat quarters, and would again, just trying to connect with other shops and we are doing it August 6th.

Make It Take It

We've been doing this for about three or four months now, every Saturday we do a Make-it-Take-it. Come into the shop, pay five to seven dollars for a kit fee and walk out with a completed piece.

Toni:
I already know I'm going to do, but I won't announce it until next week because I love suspense. I love mysteries. So just know that on the second Saturday of the month, you come in the shop, you can participate in a Make-it-Take-it, which means you sit down. I hand you everything. You do what I tell you and you walk out with a project. You don't have to bring a machine, you don't have to bring scissors, you don't bring nothing. I got it all covered for you. So we'll see you then on the second Saturday of August for our Make-it-Take-it.

3rd Saturday/Project Linus Workday

Our third Saturday is our open-air Sit & Stitch in front of our store. We sit out there and we sit and stitch and connect and engage. And this month for August, we're also going to make it a Project Linus Workday. So the Project Linus coordinator, Deb Miller for East Tennessee, is going to be here to talk to you about what goes on with Project Linus, how you can help and participate, and be out there offering you things to do. We'll be setting up machines in the inside and you can help put labels on things. You can help sort fabric or yarn. So come on down, help them out and learn more about our charity that we support full-heartedly.

Knit-Alongs & Crochet-Alongs

We may be getting rid of our yarn, but don't worry. We are still going to keep yarn part of our offering in a different way. We're going to be doing more Knit-Alongs and Crochet-Alongs. We will announce some new ones in the next week. We already have a Crochet-Along set up for September. And we've got a sock Knit-Along, hosted by Genevieve coming up in September. So we're going to be talking about that over the next week. So don't despair because we still want to be able to connect with you.

Falling Into Sewing

We're working with five other shops, and we're going to host a virtual class online every week, starting the first week in September. That will be a really simple project for you to start getting done before the holidays. So when you get to November, you'll have eight projects done! We're going to be offering pattern bundles. And then you can use your stash or some kits that we're going to put together here as well. Watch for more information coming on that this month.

Live Sales

My live sales will continue for August on Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00 PM Eastern and on Saturdays at 4:00 PM Eastern. And now we will be doing the Daily Lab Report from Tuesday through Friday at 9:30 Eastern AM in the morning. I have coffee with me. I would love to see you!

Quilters Trek

Don't forget that Quilter's Trek is still going on through the entire month of August. We have patterns and kits. You can purchase our kits here on the website.

Toni on Vacation

Just so you know, I do take vacations. August 22nd through the 29th, I'm going to be gone. I have a feeling, the gals that are left behind, they're going to do something special. So you might want to make sure you're paying attention to the emails. Com by the shop in person and maybe see what they do with their live sales too. I might even do some live sales from the beach. I've been known to do that. So while I won't be in the shop, I will still be available in a different way.

We always have a lot going on at The Fiberology Lab because our whole goal is to connect with you, create a relationship with you, and for you to make friendships both locally and virtually. We've met some great virtual friends through our virtual retreats and we have more coming up in the future (make sure you're on an email list!)

As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to call me at (865)294-5612. Or you can email me at info@fiberologylab.com. Have a great week and a great month. And remember, we are friends, fibers, and fun.
